About The American Brief

The American Brief is an independent American news publication. Our promise is in our tagline: America, In Focus. We cover the stories that shape the country — clearly, accurately and without noise — explaining what happened, why it matters, what reliable sources confirm, and what readers should know next.

What We Cover

National news; politics and public affairs; business and the economy; technology and science; health and education; the environment and public safety; and state and local stories whose significance travels. If a development will affect American lives, livelihoods or institutions, it belongs in The American Brief.

How We Report

We prefer primary sources: official statements, public records, court and regulatory filings, and the credible reporting of established news organizations, which we credit by name in every story they inform. We distinguish confirmed facts from allegations and developing information, and we label analysis as analysis. Read our Editorial Guidelines, Ethics & Standards and Corrections Policy for the rules that govern our work.

What We Are Not

The American Brief is not affiliated with any government agency, political party or campaign, and we do not publish press releases as news. Sponsored content, when it appears, is labeled as sponsored — always.

Our Readers

We write for American adults who want the essential story without the shouting: professionals, business owners, and anyone following national developments that affect their family, work and community. If we earn your attention each morning, we intend to keep earning it.

The American Brief, by Email

One concise briefing each morning: the essential American stories, what they mean, and what to watch next. Free to read, free to subscribe.
